I see two problems here.
The first is it all feels a bit icky…
To keep those profit margins high, you’ll have to pay those freelancers basically squat.
Yes, you’ll be paying for a service… but those super-talented professionals in overseas markets deserve a bit more than being undercut by someone just trying to make a book as cheaply as possible.
The second is the market…
Customers want great quality works with valuable insights and a great reading experience.
How many readers are you going to get doing everything on the cheap? Probably not many.

However, I have seen a lower price of $2,485. Basically, you pay $497 across five monthly installments.
Sophie herself puts a value of $8,185, so at least she thinks it’s a good deal. Whether you agree really depends on kind of book sale numbers you end up with.
Oh, and does Kindle Publishing Income offer refunds? Yes… you’ll get a 180 money back guarantee as a new course sign-up. But you’ll need to jump through a few hoops to get it.
What Makes The Sophie Howard Kindle Publishing Income Course Different?
If you’ve seen Sophie Howard’s courses before, you might notice something a bit different about this one. Unlike her Amazon FBA course for example, this course is all about Kindle Direct Publishing.
There are other courses in the publishing space too, like Audiobook Income Academy. Sophie’s Kindle Publishing Income is different, though, because it’s not exclusively focused on audiobooks. It’s mainly Kindle focused, but it does offer insight into audiobooks and even physical books too.
Reviewing The Guru – What’s Sophie Howard All About?
You might have heard of Sophie Howard before… because she’s kind of a big deal in the world of online courses. She’s known as the Amazon Selling Queen, after all!
It wasn’t always quite so rosy for Sophie though. A few years ago, she was getting tired of her professional life. She had two young kids at home, and felt like her time would be better spent with them, rather than in her government job.
So hopped onboard the Amazon FBA train. And… unlike 75% to 89% of people who try to do the same thing, she actually won with this model! She set up a bunch of different stores and income streams, quit her job, and eventually sold her business for an incredible one million dollars.

Is Kindle Publishing Income Legit?
This is an even bigger question than the one about cost! Is Kindle Publishing Income legit?
So there are some bad reviews out there (just an FYI… there are always bad reviews, no course or guru is getting a clean sweep of good reviews). But these are mainly focused on the cost, or on other issues. Most of them aren’t crying “scam”.
A few that were concerned about scams asked if Sophie’s program was scamming for Amazon themselves… I actually think the opposite is true… Amazon probably doesn’t want you flooding their platform with poor-quality stuff.
Personally, I would say it’s pretty legit. You might feel a bit like you’re scamming the people writing your books for next to nothing… or the people buying copy and pasted public domain info… but you’re not getting scammed. You’re getting the course you paid for.
Just bear in mind that you’re paying quite a lot of money here. Yes, you’ll get your lovely step by step guide, and you’ll learn from someone who has done this herself for real. But there’s a world of difference between listening to an expert and actually becoming an expert yourself.
There’s a reason why you’re not bumping into Amazon kindle direct publishing millionaires every time you walk down the street… it’s hard to make this work!
My Personal Opinion On Kindle Publishing Income
Ok, so here’s my personal view on the Sophie Howard Kindle Publishing Income program.
As ever, Sophie Howard has put together a good course. There’s great stuff here… the Expert VIP Concierge Team? Yep, I like that. Weekly group coaching sessions? Yeah, that’s great.
All of this might work for some people… but I don’t think it’s going to work for most.
Here’s a quick look at what I want to see from a course like this…
- Great coaching and materials
- Amazing profits
- Real life freedom
Will This Amazon Kindle Publishing Business Course Make You Rich?
Maybe… but only in a very small number of cases. Most people are going to be left struggling to break even.
Here’s why I think this…
- Sophie Howard’s course is great, but the stakes are really high. You’re paying a lot for this, so you need guarantees I just don’t think she can give.
- It costs money to create books, and Amazon Kindle takes its cut too. Either this eats into your profits, or you try to pay your freelancers less and less… bad situations all-round.
- Once the books are out there, they’re supposed to be generating passive income… but only if people are buying them! If your books are no good, your income will be ‘no good’ too.
I just don’t see this one working out. Yeah, using the right Amazon KDP strategy can bring your work to a wider audience. But what’s the point if that works not going to sell anyway? All the niche finder software in the world can’t make people actually buy your book.
This is why I prefer a very different business model option… Digital Leasing.

I’d say we’ve got a nice course, and if you really want to go down the Kindle Direct Publishing route, this might be a good entry point.
The problem is… it’s expensive, which means straight away the pressure is on to make your money back. As you’re selling low quality and low content books, this is really, really hard to do.
Either you cut your prices, making just a few cents on the dollar from each sale. Or you pay your freelancers less… exploiting whoever can do the job as cheaply as possible.
Whichever option you choose, I don’t think this translates to a sustainable business model.
