TLDR – Will The Superstar Blogging Course Make Your Dreams Come True?
Matt Kepnes has laid on a great travel blogger course. Following his video modules, you’ll learn all about how to start and build your travel blog, handling search engine optimization, marketing, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
It’s all very exciting, especially if you love writing and traveling yourself. But I think the “love” is key here. If you’re checking out this course because you want a lucrative career change, or if you want to make passive income with little effort, it’s probably not going to work.
If you’re passionate about travel, you can take the rough with the smooth. You can handle those days when not everything goes to plan. In fact, part of you kind of loves them.
If you’re passionate about writing, you won’t mind tapping away on your laptop while everyone else is meeting for drinks at the poolside bar, or missing an awesome sunset because you’ve got a deadline looming.
Except… you probably will mind…
This is why travel writing is often not as glamorous as it appears. You might have to take assignments you don’t really want to do. You may have to document experiences that aren’t really your thing. And you’ll definitely have to submit your blogs on time!
The worst part… most travel bloggers don’t even make that much money for this.
Now don’t get me wrong, travel blogging is great. I’m inspired by many of the blogs I read on a regular basis, and this is a big part of choosing a holiday destination for me. If you’re into this… go for it; I’d love to read your work!
But as a career… or as a real money-maker… hmmm, I’m not so sure.
Digital Leasing is all about local lead generation. You create a website in a specialized local niche… something like pest control in your town. Then, you rent this digital space out to your local business partners.
You’re generating fire leads that your partner can convert with ease. They put food on the table, grow their business, and keep on serving your neighborhood. You get regular income, to the tune of $10k a month or even more… really, that’s not a typo, I’ve seen it work!
Also, once you’ve set up that first site, you can use your template to launch another, and another, and as many as you want. Running these sites is easy and pretty hands-off, which means your free!
Your vacation time is now your vacation time, for real. You’re not worry about where the next pay check is coming from, and you’re certainly not worried about that next blog deadline.
So what will you do?
- Maybe take that epic road trip you’ve been putting off for years?
- Perhaps spend some time making memories with your loved ones?
- Or you could start your own travel blog… remember, the pressure’s off now. You can write for the love of it, not just in the hope of making a quick buck.

Who Is Superstar Blogging For… And Who’s It NOT For?
So who is this course actually aimed at?
Who It’s For…
You might get something out of Superstar Blogging, if…
- You already run a travel blog – The course does start with the basics, but it’s probably best to at least have a bit of travel blogger experience before you start.
- You love writing, traveling, and sharing your experiences – If you tick all of these boxes, this course could be a really good fit for you.
- You’re a big fan of the Nomadic Matt blog – If you’ve read loads of Matt’s posts, and you like what you see, this might be for you.
Who It’s NOT For…
This blogging course probably isn’t for you, if…
- You’re looking to make money fast – It can take around six months to start making money, and you might just be seeing 100 bucks a month. Even if it works, it is not a quick way to make bank!
- You’re not that interested in travel and writing – Nomadic Matt makes his Superstar Blogging course accessible to almost everyone, but you will have to love traveling and writing.
- You like to keep your vacations chill – There won’t be much chill vacation time when you’re a travel writer, because you’ll be on the clock. If you and your family aren’t cool with this, it’s not going to work.
The 1000 FT View On Superstar Blogging
Let’s take a couple of steps back. I want to give you the full picture of this travel blogging course.
The Superstar Blogging Business Model
Area | Score | Description |
---|---|---|
Time Investment | 1.9 out of 5 stars | You can move through the course basically at your own pace, but once you’re launching your blogging career, you’d better be prepared to devote most of your free time to it. |
Level of Control | 2.0 out of 5 stars | Matt and his partners really do try their best to put you in the driver’s seat. I just think travel blogging is such a difficult industry to gain any control in. |
Ease of Implementation | 2.6 out of 5 stars | You’ll be able to put Matt’s advice into practice without too much trouble. Honing and perfecting your strategy, though, is going to be much harder. |
Profit Potential | 2.4 out of 5 stars | Matt has made loads of money from travel blogging. The vast majority of people do not… not even close. |
Well, the business model is, of course, blogging… but specifically, we’re talking about travel blogging here.
Basically, travel writers go on trips, visit nice places, take pictures, write articles, and get paid for it. Yes, they spend money on these trips, but they can make money blogging at the same time, and many of these expenditures can become business expenses.
It all sounds pretty lovely. You can travel the world. You get to write professionally. You can to turn your hobbies and passions into a real career. You’ve probably read lots of other blogs yourself, so you know how this works.
Just bear in mind this is not quite the dream lifestyle it’s cracked up to be…
- Most travel blogs don’t make money – While some bloggers are certainly cranking out millions of dollars, most are travel blogging for the love of writing, exploring, and sharing their passion.
- Successful travel blogging is a lot of work – There’s more to it than just writing a post and launching it into the world. You’ll need to manage affiliate programs, handle social media marketing, and network with press contacts to make this a win. Superstar Blogging does teach some of this, but it’s still a lot of work.
- Blogging can take a lot of the fun out of traveling – It’s tough to enjoy your vacation when you’ve got a deadline to meet, or if your publisher rejects your article and you’ve got to find another one, or if a million and one other things go wrong. Being a travel writer can really suck at times.
How Much Does Superstar Blogging Cost?
So how about the Superstar Blogging cost? There are basically two options here. You’ve got Nomadic Matt’s travel blogging course, and you’ve got David Farley’s travel writing course.
Matt Kepnes’s Superstar Business Masterclass is the main course here. It costs $99 for instant access to the whole course. This is lifetime access too, so you can learn at your own pace.
David Farley’s course is the Superstar Writing Masterclass, priced at $79 a month or $199 every three months, for instant access. You’re basically saving 38 bucks by choosing the quarterly option.
How Is Superstar Blogging Different?
Superstar Blogging certainly stands apart from some of the other blog-focused programs out there, like Freelance Writing Jobs for Beginners. FWJFB is more about landing you a job, while Superstar Blogging is about giving you the skills you need to develop your own travel blog.
I’d also say it’s pretty different from something like Publishing.com. While Nomadic Matt is all about valuable content, Publishing.com focuses more on creating low-content audiobooks.
Reviewing The Guru – Who Is Matt Kepnes?
Matt Kepnes, aka Nomadic Matt, is originally from Boston. While he’s certainly an avid traveler these days, it hasn’t always been this way. Originally from Boston, MA, Matt didn’t head abroad until he was 23 years old… and it changed him forever.
A trip to Costa Rica set him on his travel and blogging journey. He started blogging under the name Nomadic Matt in 2008, and the rest is history. He now runs one of the most successful travel blog sites on the internet, and says he is on a mission to help people travel the world without emptying their bank account.
Alongside his own blogging business, Matt is also helping other people to join the travel blogging world. His online blogging courses are supporting other bloggers as they try to follow in the gurus footsteps.
Is There A Superstar Blogging Scam Going On Here?
This is a big question for my blogging course review – is there a Superstar Blogging scam you need to worry about?
I would say no, there’s no scam.
Matt seems like a good guy, and he’s out to change the travel blogging world, blog post by blog post. I’m not sure he quite manages it, but he’s put together a good course all the same.
There are a few negative reviews for Matt and his blog, but I don’t think they are anything to worry about. His follow up comments suggest he hasn’t done anything wrong, and they’re not talking about his coaching program anyway.
The reason I’m not so sure about the course is the same one that plagues all travel blogging courses – the realities of being a travel writer. What Superstar Blogging teaches is great, but even the best travel blogging courses fall a bit flat when “the real world” shows its face.
What am I talking about here? Well, writing a travel blog is a labor of love for most writers. They might make some money here and there, even get some free trips. But most are not making mega-bucks from their passion.
Even the best travel blogging course can’t guarantee a solid income from this business model.
My Personal Opinion On Superstar Blogging
Ok, here it is… my personal opinion on Nomadic Matt’s Superstar Blogging.
I think this could be a good way for new travel bloggers to gain some nice skills in the industry.
But I don’t think it’s a great way to make money.
Here’s what I want to see from courses like these…
- Incredible coaching and materials
- A genuine route to great profits
- Real life freedom
Will Nomadic Matt’s Superstar Blogging Make Your Rich?
It depends what you class as rich. It might give you the opportunity to live a rich and varied life, but it’s not going to make you rich rich.
Here’s why I think this…
- Ok, so the coaching and the materials seem to be very good. There might be a few basic parts that could be found free online elsewhere, but as a full package, I like it.
- As for a route to great profits… most people aren’t going to see massive returns on this. They might get a few hundred dollars side income, but nothing life changing in most cases.
- And freedom… well you might be able to travel the world, but you’ll be losing a lot of your free time. And your family might get a bit p’d off if you’re always working on vacation.
The thing is, it’s really nothing again Matt’s Superstar Blogging course. I really like this.
It’s also nothing about travel blogging… I love reading travel blogs, and get tons of inspiration from them.
It’s just that even the best blogging courses can’t guarantee life changing money and freedom.
This is why I actually recommend something a little different… something like Digital Leasing.
With Digital Leasing, you’re providing a real service to your local business partners, giving them the slam dunk leads they need to thrive. You’re helping real people, and they are giving you a good income in return.
There’s no scrabbling around chasing paid commissions and trying to boost your affiliate traffic. There’s just regular income each month, great returns, and a whole lot of freedom.
Let’s see how this program stacks up…
- The coaching and materials are superb… some of the best I’ve found anywhere online.
- As I’ve mentioned, the local lead generation model is giving people real results right now.
- And it’s a pretty hands off business… just a few minutes a day, and loads of freedom.
So what will you do with all this freedom?
Maybe you’ll head off on that dream trip with your loved ones…
Perhaps you’ll write a blog about it, free from the pressure of deadlines and making ends meet…
And hey, look at that… you’re a travel writer, but on your own terms!

What’s Inside Superstar Blogging?
Ok, so what exactly will you find inside Nomadic Matt’s blogging course?
Superstar Business Masterclass
This is the main event of Nomadic Matt’s course. It’s kind of a “start from scratch” travel blogging course, designed to take you from a complete newbie to a successful travel blogger in eight modules.
Here’s what Matt covers…
- Setting Up And Getting Started
- Building A Brand
- Writing Content
- Mastering Social Media And Networking
- Search Engine Optimizations
- Newsletters
- Blog Monetization
- Partnering With Brands, PR Agencies And More
The Module | What’s It All About? |
---|---|
Module One – Setting Up And Getting Started | This is basically the kick-off module. You’ll learn more about Matt himself, and you’ll discover all the basics of setting up your WordPress and handling a bit of preliminary search engine optimization. |
Module Two – Building A Brand | The first module was super, super basic. Now we’re getting into the real meat of this online course. In module two, Matt talks about web design and about finding the right niche for your blog business – both important things for aspiring travel bloggers. |
Module Three – Writing Content | I’m going to assume you already love writing, so you’ll probably have a bit of experience here. In the third module, Matt lays out a bunch of lessons that help you enhance your content. There are resources here, too, that can help you in your blogging career. |
Module Four – Mastering Social Media And Networking | Travel blogs depend on a big presence on social media platforms. The best bloggers also network, so they can identify guest posting opportunities. Matt covers this here, looking at platforms like Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook. |
Module Five – Search Engine Optimizations | A successful blog is going to rank well on search engines, so you need great SEO tips and strategies. You’ll get this in module five, which examines which tools and processes you can use to achieve big results from organic search traffic. |
Module Six – Newsletters | Nomadic Matt’s course devotes a whole module to newsletters, which is a big part of blog monetization. He introduces Mailchimp and ConvertKit to help you manage your email lists, and also talks about the content you’ll need to include in these newsletters. |
Module Seven – Monetizing Your Blog | The Nomadic Matt Superstar Blogging course gives you lots of different ways to make money as a travel writer. Here, he talks about affiliate marketing, self-publishing ebooks on Amazon, creating digital products, and general marketing of your business. |
Module Eight – Partnering With Brands, PR Agencies And More | The last module of the travel blog course is all about brands and PR. Matt teaches students about tours and consultation work with tourism boards, press kits and media kits, taking paid content, and building your travel writing career. |
Superstar Writing Masterclass
There’s also the Superstar Writing Masterclass course, hosted by Nomadic Matt’s travel blogger and author partner David Farley.
This course is more about honing your writing skills, rather than the business side of things. David covers…
- Writing in a compelling, narrative driven way
- Writing descriptively
- Mastering the creative process
- Working with editors and self-edting
- Perfecting book proposals
- Writing for an online audience
There are also lots of guest expert spots from other travel bloggers and industry peeps.
My Superstar Blogging Review – The Conclusion
It’s time to draw the curtain on my Nomadic Matt’s Superstar Blogging review.
So what do I think?
Hey, I think the course is great. I really do. You get a whole load of useful information… everything from travel blog content to online business management is covered in the video lessons, and a whole lot more.
It’s a good solid foundation that could help you make a bit of money from blogging. But I just can’t recommend this course as a money-maker.
I know plenty of people who have written fantastic travel blogs. They’ve captivated their audience and painted an amazing picture of what the experience was like. But they barely made 100 bucks a month from it.
So where else can you look?
You might want to read another one of my review blogs… like this one on Paid Online Writing Jobs.
But I think the best call is to check out my #1 pick for making money in 2025…
My #1 Way for Making Money Online In 2025!
Our review team has spent months reviewing dozens of business models and thousands of programs.
And the research IS conclusive:
Digital Leasing is the #1 online business model for those just starting out.
Whether you’ve never made a dollar online, or you’ve been in this space for a while, Digital Leasing is for you.
Why?
1) It’s Flexible: got an hour a day? You can do this. Even with a little time each day, you can move the needle in a Digital Leasing business.
You can earn PASSIVE INCOME – if you stop working, the money doesn’t.
Imagine taking 3 months off to just tour around Europe, rent a cabin in the woods to write a book, hike the Appalachian Trail, or live on the beach and surf all day.
Well, you might be able to do a lot of traveling with Superstar Blogging, but you’ll be working while you do it. It’s not exactly freedom… just more pressure when you’re supposed to be relaxing.
2) You Own & Control EVERYTHING: Few travel bloggers are truly in control. Their publishers, advertisers, affiliate marketing partners, even their audience… these are the guys with the real control.
With Digital Leasing, you own all the assets, which means you have all the power and all the control.
3) Little To No Startup Costs: Using the strategies outlined in this program, you can get into digital leasing with zero dollars upfront.
You can have your first Digital Rental Property up and running and generating profits for less than $100.
4) Easy To Duplicate: OK, here’s the best part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up and running, you can literally DOUBLE your income with a few clicks.
Each Digital Rental Property is worth $500 to $2,000 a month in semi-passive income (over 95% profit). It gets easier every time you decide to create another one and increase your income.
Income is a real issue for any travel blog course. Even if you do manage to double your profits, the vast majority of bloggers aren’t making enough even to put food on the table.
5) Make Money Helping Real People: Small, local business owners need more customers, and with Digital Leasing, you are unleashing a flood of happy, paying customers for these businesses.
You make money by helping them make money. This part is what makes it all worth it… helping a small business owner in your community. That’s how Digital Leasing makes a real impact in the lives of real people.
Get started today and join a community of over 2,000 successful students who are living life on their own terms and achieving a consistent, reliable, semi-passive stream of income while helping real people.
